In Georgia State Representative District 60, students encounter various hindrances to their educational growth, including inadequate funding, outdated infrastructure, and limited access to educational resources. These barriers lead to compromised learning environments, hampering students' ability to excel academically and prepare for future success.
Our failing schools and poor academic performance demand immediate attention. We must implement effective strategies to improve attendance rates and reduce dropout rates. It is essential to demand better results from our schools and ensure that funding is distributed equitably.
It is a fundamental pillar of any thriving community, and it is disheartening to see our schools failing to meet the needs of our students. One area that requires immediate attention is the implementation of Critical Race Theory in our curriculum. By incorporating this framework, we can ensure that our students understand the historical and ongoing impact of race and racism in our society. Additionally, we must address the issues of poor attendance rates, high dropout rates, and underperforming schools. We must demand better results from our educational institutions and allocate funding equitably to provide all students with the necessary resources to succeed.

In Georgia's State Rep District 60, the absence of adequate healthcare facilities and services has resulted in numerous medical and health challenges for its residents. Limited access to primary care, specialized treatments, and preventive care has contributed to a population burdened by preventable illnesses, delayed diagnoses, and increased healthcare costs. Addressing this issue is crucial to ensure the well-being of the community, reduce health disparities, and enhance overall healthcare outcomes.
Improving healthcare access is a priority for our district. We need to address the high costs of insurance and prescription medications, making healthcare more affordable for all residents. Furthermore, we must focus on the availability and accessibility of hospitals, especially in areas where urgent medical care may be lacking. To serve undeserved communities, I propose introducing mobile medical centers that can provide free or reduced-cost medical care. Additionally, exploring partnerships with international medical providers can enhance our healthcare resources and ensure that access is not limited based on racial or ethnic backgrounds.

Gun violence has devastating consequences, particularly for Georgia's youth. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reports that from 2015 to 2019, over 1,500 minors were arrested for gun-related offenses. Additionally, these incidents disproportionately affect marginalized communities, exacerbating existing social inequalities and perpetuating a cycle of violence that hampers community development.
Gun violence is a pressing issue that affects not only our district but the entire nation. Clair will labor to strengthen our gun laws to ensure the safety of our community. This includes implementing mandatory testing and licensing for gun owners, as well as providing comprehensive training on responsible gun ownership. By taking these measures, we can work towards reducing the incidence of gun violence and creating a safer environment for all residents.
To combat the rising issue of gun violence, we need to strengthen our gun laws. This includes implementing testing, licensing, and training requirements to promote responsible gun ownership and reduce the risk of firearm-related incidents.
By addressing these critical issues, Clair is committed to creating positive change and working towards a better future for Georgia House District 60. Together, we can build a stronger community that prioritizes education, safety, housing affordability, and accessible healthcare for all.

Affordable housing is a pressing concern that requires our attention. I propose implementing rent caps to make housing more affordable for individuals and families. Additionally, we need to pass legislation to provide individuals with a reasonable amount of time, more than 7 days, to address eviction notices. Revamping the foreclosure process is crucial, and we should establish a tougher system to prevent unnecessary foreclosures. It is also important to ensure that homeowners' associations (HOAs) cannot foreclose on properties without just cause. Furthermore, we need to address the issue of eviction records, as individuals can seal their criminal records but not their eviction records, leading to long-term housing difficulties.
Diane Clair was born and raised in Atlanta’s Collier Heights and Adamsville neighborhoods by a single mother. She relocated to College Park in high school. She participated in the minority-to-majority program in Fulton County, which bused children to Roswell High School, a better-funded school system in north Fulton. Following high school, she attended Bethune-Cookman College for two years and later returned to Atlanta. Subsequently, she enrolled at Georgia State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in political science in 2009.
After completing her bachelor’s degree, she moved to New York City and worked in the non-profit sector for two years. Diane Clair then pursued her legal education at Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando, FL, obtaining her Juris Doctor degree in 2015.
With nearly a decade of legal practice, she is the proprietor of The Clair Firm, LLC, where she assists clients in various legal domains, including Real Estate matters, estate planning, probate, business, and contract issues.
Attorney Clair takes particular pride in advocating for quality and affordable housing. This commitment is evident in her work, where she specializes in eviction defense, foreclosure defense, and cases involving negligent landlords throughout Georgia. Additionally, she has tailored her firm to focus on representing the elderly population in estate planning and probate matters.
Diane lives in District 60 on the Upper West Side with her 3-year-old son, Miykael. Raised by a single mom, has given Clair direct interest in ensuring that her son and all children in Georgia can grow up in a secure community with the best possible schools. As a native of the district, she is well-acquainted with the needs of the citizens in metro Atlanta and the State of Georgia.
Georgia currently ranks as the 4th highest among the 50 states in gun violence, holds the 43rd position in maternal mortality rates, and is placed 31st in K-12 education. It is puzzling why the State of Georgia does not rank higher as a safe, affordable, and family-friendly place to live and work.
There are practical steps we can take to improve these statistics and elevate Georgia to be one of the best states in the country. However, achieving this requires genuine leadership at the legislative level, with innovative ideas and a contemporary understanding of the issues that most significantly impact the people.
